Multipurpose Facilitation Hall at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture (SAIIC)

The basic idea of the proposed project is to build a pilot bamboo based structure whereas to facilitate multipurpose activities such as vocational training programmes, workshops, meetings, gatherings, Yoga Classes and meditation. This structure will showcase the appropriate use of Bamboo as an engineering (structural) material which is eco-friendly, energy efficient building material, use of a renewable resource, a substitute of rapidly depleting wooden products, an earth-quake safe material, a cost effective material and a locally available material. This structure also demonstrates the modern technology available on construction with bamboo and bridges the gap between the traditional techniques and required  modern techniques.

The building is an octagonal structL measuring a total area of 2775 sq. comprising ground and first floor. A sepan reception kiosk is also built nearby.

The structure is basically a truss system made of three dimensional assembly of lime elements. It has 8 (eight) numbers of trus forming the conical roof and the trusses interconnected by lateral members.
