Bamboo grow profusely in all the North Eastern States of India and is a useful item for the inhabitants of the area. From items of daily use, Bamboo have helped human beings in several ways including decorating headgears, the people make all sorts of furniture and it is a useful help in the kitchen. It formed an important segment of construction material for houses and other structures. One cannot imagine a community, a village, or an individual in the NER of India, without bamboo coming to help in some direct or indirect manner.
I am glad that CBTC is organizing the WORLD BAMBOO DAY in association with the Government of Nagaland State in Nagaland. It would add greater value to this useful material in forging ahead in a meaningful way. I wish the World Bamboo Day and the North Eastern States of India an enduring success.
Bamboo harvesting needs to be organised in such a manner that over the years Bamboo get systematically harvested in such a way that they are not allowed to slip in to their flowing stage to cause an increase in the rodent population that bring famine of different intensity. However, it is important the the 'cultured varieties of bamboo replace the harvested area of Bamboo, which is not put under any other preferred activity.
The systematic development of bamboo and its use will help economic growth, employ plenty of people in a gainful manner and add value to bamboos. It would generate and thus enhance the income levels of the people.
Almost all the people of the NER can handle bamboo. Many people are so gifted with handling Bamboo that they create a variety of very beautiful artifacts and attract buyers from all over the world.CBTC's efforts in the above directions, are praiseworthy.
Wish them all the success.
